Description

Pearlfish are slender, eel-like marine fish known for their commensal or parasitic relationship with various invertebrates, often residing within the body cavities of sea cucumbers, bivalves, or tunicates. They possess a transparent, elongated body, especially in their larval stages, and are rarely seen in the open. Their unique lifestyle makes them a fascinating but extremely challenging species for observation or keeping outside their natural habitat.
