Description

The Northern Roach, also known as the Blacknose Dace, is a small, slender freshwater minnow native to eastern North America. It is characterized by a prominent dark lateral stripe extending from the snout to the caudal fin, and often exhibits reddish coloration on its fins, especially during breeding. These active fish prefer cool, clear, flowing waters of streams and small rivers.
