The Insular Tonguefish (Symphurus insularis) is a small, cryptic flatfish native to the Western Atlantic. It possesses excellent camouflage, blending seamlessly with sandy or muddy seafloors where it lies in wait for small invertebrate prey. This species is characterized by its elongated, tongue-like body and both eyes located on its upper side.
