Description

A 'living fossil,' the Coelacanth is a large, lobe-finned fish found in the deep waters of the Indian Ocean. Known for its unique skeletal and fin structure, it was once thought to be extinct until its rediscovery in 1938. This ancient predator inhabits rocky caves and volcanic slopes at depths of several hundred feet, making it impossible to keep in a typical aquarium.
