Description
The Carpathian Brook Lamprey (*Eudontomyzon mariae*) is a unique, non-parasitic lamprey species found in rivers of the Carpathian region. Its long-lived larval stage, called an ammocoete, burrows into soft substrate and filter-feeds on microscopic organisms. Adults are short-lived and do not feed, focusing solely on reproduction.
