Description
The Backwater Darter is a small, bottom-dwelling freshwater fish native to the southeastern United States. It is characterized by its mottled brown body, iridescent green/yellow markings on the operculum, and a distinctive spiny dorsal fin often adorned with red spots. These active micro-predators thrive in cool, clear, highly oxygenated water with plenty of hiding spots.
