Description
The Creole Darter is a small, strikingly colorful freshwater fish native to the Ouachita and Red River systems in the south-central United States. Males display vibrant patterns of orange, blue, and red, especially during breeding season. They are benthic fish, preferring clear, flowing water with rocky or gravel substrates where they forage for small invertebrates.
