The Tule Perch is a unique freshwater surfperch native to California's Central Valley. It is an insectivore, feeding primarily on aquatic invertebrates. Known for its somewhat flattened body and often mottled coloration, it prefers cooler, clear water environments and can exhibit territorial behavior during breeding.
