Description

The Tambaqui is one of the largest characins in the world, known for its deep, disc-shaped body and powerful, human-like teeth adapted for crushing seeds and fruits. Native to the Amazon and Orinoco basins, it requires an extremely large aquarium or pond due to its immense adult size. While generally peaceful towards large tankmates, its sheer size means it can easily consume smaller fish.
