The Speckled Darter is a small, colorful freshwater fish native to the Ozark Plateaus. It is characterized by its mottled brown and tan coloration with distinctive speckles and often vibrant orange or red fins, especially in males during breeding season. These bottom-dwelling fish prefer clear, cool, flowing water with rocky or gravel substrates.
