Description

The Smooth Trunkfish is a unique, box-shaped marine fish known for its distinctive black body covered in bright white spots, especially prominent in juveniles. While generally peaceful, it is an advanced care species due to its ability to release a potent toxin (ostracitoxin) into the water when stressed, which can harm or kill other tank inhabitants. They require a large, well-established saltwater aquarium with plenty of live rock for grazing and hiding.
