Description
The Rough Shiner is a small, slender freshwater fish native to the clear streams of the southeastern United States. Males display vibrant red and orange coloration, especially during breeding season, and develop nuptial tubercles, giving them their 'rough' appearance. These peaceful, schooling fish are an excellent addition to temperate community aquariums.
