Description
The Redspot Chub is a robust, bottom-dwelling minnow native to the clear, cool streams of the Ozark Highlands. It is characterized by its olive-brown back, silvery sides, and a distinctive red spot on the operculum, especially prominent in breeding males who also develop nuptial tubercles on their heads. These fish prefer well-oxygenated water with good flow and rocky substrates.
