Description

This Pufferfish species, often known as the Northern Puffer, is a mottled brown to greenish-grey fish with small dark spots, commonly found camouflaged on sandy or muddy bottoms in estuaries and coastal waters. Like other pufferfish, it can inflate its body with water or air when threatened, and possesses a powerful beak-like mouth for crushing shells. It is a predatory fish that feeds on various invertebrates.
