Description

The Pacific Viperfish is a fearsome deep-sea predator known for its disproportionately large mouth, needle-like fangs, and rows of light-producing organs (photophores). It inhabits the mesopelagic and bathypelagic zones of the Pacific Ocean, where it ambushes prey in the perpetual darkness. This species is impossible to keep in a home aquarium due to its extreme deep-sea habitat requirements.
