Description
The Nototenia, or Maori Chief, is a robust, bottom-dwelling marine fish characterized by its mottled reddish-brown to olive coloration, providing excellent camouflage among rocky reefs. It possesses large eyes and a broad head, typical of many ambush predators. This species is native to the temperate waters around New Zealand and southern Australia.
