Description
The Horned Lanternfish (*Ceratoscopelus maderensis*) is a deep-sea mesopelagic fish known for its bioluminescent organs (photophores) and small 'horns' above its eyes. It undertakes daily vertical migrations, feeding on zooplankton at night in shallower waters and returning to deeper, colder waters during the day. This species is not suitable for home aquariums due to its specific deep-sea habitat requirements.
