Description
The Chickasaw Darter is a small, vibrantly colored freshwater fish endemic to the upper Tombigbee River drainage in Mississippi and Alabama. Males exhibit striking red and orange hues, particularly during breeding, with distinct dark markings along their flanks. They are bottom-dwelling micro-predators that require cool, clear, and highly oxygenated water with good flow.
