Description

The Candy Darter is a strikingly colorful freshwater fish native to the New River drainage in the eastern United States. Males display vibrant patterns of orange, red, and blue-green stripes and bars, especially during breeding season. They are bottom-dwelling fish that require cool, highly oxygenated water with plenty of rocks and gravel.
