Description
The Ameca splendens, also known as the Butterfly Splitfin, is a livebearing freshwater fish native to Mexico, now extinct in the wild but maintained in the aquarium hobby. Males are smaller and more colorful, while females are larger and more subdued. They are active and can be territorial, particularly males, and are known for their herbivorous tendencies.
