Description

The Blobfish, or Deep-sea blob sculpin, is a unique fish adapted to the extreme pressures of the deep sea, found off the coast of California and the Davidson Seamount. Its gelatinous appearance is a result of its low-density flesh, which helps it float just above the seafloor without expending much energy. This species is not suitable for home aquariums due to its specialized habitat requirements and the impossibility of replicating its deep-sea environment.
