Description
The Black Madtom is a small, nocturnal freshwater catfish native to the southeastern United States, characterized by its dark, mottled coloration and venomous pectoral spines. It prefers clear, flowing waters with rocky or sandy substrates and ample hiding places. While generally peaceful with larger fish, they can be territorial towards conspecifics or similar-looking bottom dwellers.
